Tie The Knot
From a mounted position, the rider chases after a calf. The rider must lasso the neck of the calf with the lariat. The rider then commands the horse to stop, dismounts and throws the calf to its side by hand. The rider then must cross and tie three legs of the calf securely. A 10 second penalty is added to the rider’s score if they chase the calf before the allotted head start also called the barrier.
