Bull Riding

The rider mounts a 2000 lb bull in the chute. A flank strap is snugly fastened to the bull’s mid-section in order to signify to the animal it is time to buck. Once the chute gate is opened, the rider’s “rigging” helps him stay on the bull. The rider then hopes to hang on for dear life for the next 8 seconds while the bull bucks and kicks. The cowboy and bull are both scored on a 50 point scale. The winner has the highest score for that night. Top competitors in this sport include: Nelson Wyatt, Bruston Minton, and Taylor Santos. Many of you know that country singer Cody Johnson participated in this event as well.
