Turn N Burn.
Mounted riders run a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels set up in the arena. If the rider knocks down any of the three barrels while completing the pattern, it is a five second penalty. The goal is to complete the pattern in the shortest time without knocking over a barrel or falling off the horse. Barrel Racing started in 1931 in Stamford, Texas, but was only in a figure eight pattern. It was later changed to a clover pattern in 1935.
