About

Celebrating 75 Years of Tradition

Since 1949, the Springville Sierra Rodeo has been a cherished tradition in California’s Central Valley, offering thrilling rodeo entertainment against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Located in Springville, CA, our rodeo showcases top-tier athletes and exciting events, all made possible by the dedication of our volunteers, community club members, and generous sponsors. We take pride in preserving our local heritage and providing an unforgettable experience for all who attend, year after year.

Simple Beginnings

The Springville Rodeo has deep roots in our local community, dating back to 1939 when informal events captivated cowboys and fans alike. In 1949, the Springville Rodeo was officially formed as a professional rodeo within the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), which has been held annually ever since. Initially hosted at the Gill Ranch Arena on Balch Park Road, the event moved to its permanent location in 1961 after significant community effort to transform an old sawmill site into the rodeo arena we know today.

Continuous Improvement

Over the years, the Springville Rodeo grounds has grown significantly thanks to community support and the outstanding efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Continuous improvements, such as upgraded facilities, shade covers over two-thirds of the rodeo bleachers, a fully covered VIP section, new stock pens for our livestock, and a hospitality booth for our contestants have enhanced the experience for both participants and spectators, ensuring that our rodeo tradition remains strong.

Wholesome Entertainment

The Springville Rodeo offers wholesome, family-friendly entertainment that’s fun for all ages! From the excitement of thrilling rodeo events to specialty act entertainment, there’s something for everyone. Families can even join in on the action with activities like mutton busting, the silver dollar dig, hide race, motorcycle barrel race, and much more. It’s the perfect way to create lasting memories with the people you care about while enjoying the best of our rodeo’s traditions!

Giving Back

The Springville Rodeo is proud to give back to the community through initiatives like The Golden Circle of Champions, Chick N’ Chaps, and the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Program, all part of the PRCA and Springville Rodeo’s efforts to support meaningful and impactful causes. Our local civic groups (Springville Women’s Club, Springville Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9499, the Backcountry Horseman of California, Boy Scouts of America, and Future Farmers of America) also play a key role in our philanthropic activities, raising funds through food booth sales at our rodeo events to support a variety of community projects, which benefit local schools and improvement efforts. Together, we’re creating a lasting impact and strengthening the heart of Springville.

The Backbone of our Rodeo

At the Springville Rodeo, our volunteers are the heart and soul of our event. Their dedication and hard work ensure the ongoing success and growth of the rodeo year after year. Volunteers generously donate their time, equipment, and expertise, working tirelessly year-round to maintain our rodeo grounds, support capital projects, and help us continuously improve. From organizing events to running the arena, managing entry gates, and overseeing food booths, our volunteers make everything possible. During rodeo weekend, you’ll see them in action, making sure the event runs smoothly and seamlessly. If you cross paths with one of our volunteers, we encourage you to take a moment to thank them for their invaluable contribution to this beloved community tradition!
