2022 Grand Marshal Frank Wittich

Decorated American War Hero

  • Born in New York, Frank is the son of a career Navy Veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor
  • Frank served his country as a flight engineer on CH 47 helicopters. He also trained pilots. During the Vietnam War, he served two tours of duty. First at a door gunner with the 271st Assault Support Helicopter CO, then in the same capacity with the 307 Combat Aviation Battalion.

  • Three Bronze Stars
  • The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star for specific action that took place in September 1970.
    After being Honorable Discharged from the Army in 1970 Frank moved to Springville and continued his dedication to his Country and Community.
    He first went to work at Quaking Aspen Pack Station working with his friend Dan Shew. He later joined the following organizations working to make Springville a better place.
  • Springville VFW Post #9499 where he became the Post Commander and is in his 51st year as a life member
  • Springville Sierra Rodeo Board Member for over 20 years.
  • Springville Mountain Lions.
  • Springville Veterans Memorial Board as an original member.
  • 2007 life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

In 1971 Frank Joined the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department. He was Resident Deputy in Springville and a canine trainer and handler. In 1986 Frank turned his sights to Private Investigating which he pursued for the past 35 years. He joined the Bank of The Sierra in 1988 creating and running the Special Assets Department.

Now retired Frank spends his time supporting the Springville VFW, The Springville Rodeo, and The Springville Rodeo Foundation. Living on his ranch in Springville, Frank runs a few heads of cattle and horses. A quiet man, Frank has served his Country and his Community throughout his life and is loved and respected by all. A true War Hero, he is the essence of the American Man that has made our country great.
